• ASHTANGA YOGA

    We are a yoga studio focusing on teaching the Ashtanga method as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson R. Sharath Jois. Ashtanga yoga is a powerful and dynamic form of yoga based on a variety of body positions, called asanas, combined with breathing exercises. These asanas are performed in a certain order and with a flow in which breathing and body movements are connected.

NATALIA PAISANO

I am originally from Madrid and have been practicing yoga for over thirty years. I am fifty-four years old and I always say that there is not a single day that I have regretted practicing. I am passionate about anatomy and the body. I help students develop their practice with my hands and adjustments. I respect and read their diversity and their needs. Since I was very young, my dream was to travel to India and experience the culture there. After graduating from university, I worked in the television editorial department at the Spanish broadcaster Canal+. After a three-month trip to India, I began practicing with Sivananda Yoga for two years and then continued my training with Iyengar for three more years. In 1999 I took a leave of absence to travel to India for a whole year. There I discovered Ashtanga yoga in Mysore and Vipassana meditation according to Goenka, and my life changed forever.

Why did you decide to teach yoga? When I came back from my trip, I continued working in television, but my real passion was yoga. I started homeschooling friends and gradually the group grew. I decided to open my first studio in Madrid and, like everything you do with passion, it was a success. I continued to travel to India every year to deepen my practice. In 2003 I received my license to teach. I gave up my job in television to devote myself exclusively to teaching. I spent a year in Tokyo giving courses and workshops in Asia. Life took me to Sweden: to Stockholm, where I opened a studio, stayed for ten years and where my daughter was born. I currently live in Mallorca, where I have a yoga studio, and also give workshops in other places in Europe. I am fascinated by seeing the transformation and personal growth that comes with the practice of yoga.
